
GILLINGHAM HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
Gillingham Horticultural Society was founded in 1940 and welcomes members of all ages from all walks of life. All you need is an interest in gardening and whether you prefer growing vegetables, fruit or flowers you are bound to meet like minded people in GHS!
It's Coming At You ... The 2022 Autumn Show takes place on 10 September at the URC Hall!! Schedules are available from the Shed, Woodlands Allotment Site, open Friday 11-1pm, Saturday and Sunday 10 - 12 noon. Go on - give it a go - you never know, you might be surprised! Let's give our new Judge something fun to assess!!!
The Team from Music Man entertain over 50 GHS members at the July Garden Tea Party - and bag a cheque for £1000 raised by members - presented by our friend, and new member, Mayor Jan Aldous.

What an evening!!! 27 July brought music and song to the URC garden as the members of the Music Man company, a wonderful group of people young and old, joined together to entertain members with a variety of tunes, many very emotive, finishing with the classic Sea Shanties echoing the Last Night of the Proms, accompanied by horns and the traditional 'bobbing' of the audience. The Charity was awarded with a cheque of donations made by the members of the Society towards much needed transport to enable the group to take their wide ranging instruments to further shows!!!

Agatha Christie's summer residence at Dartmouth, including a trip on the Steam Railway and boat trips, The Eden project and Gardens of Heligan, RHS Rosemoor and finally Wilton House on our return. The weather was variable but did not dampen spirits and brought out the stunning colours of the West Countryside.
Mid May saw 33 GHS members taking to the road and heading West to Plymouth with our intrepid driver Mark. In a 4 day trip packed with adventure the team visited Ted Heath's garden and Salisbury Cathedral,
